Lead Project Worker – Homeless Services

Main Duties:

• Maintain good relations with other Agencies and stakeholders
• Work with all service users, developing professional relationships, gaining their trust and respect and deal with difficult or problematic situations in a sensitive manner and within the framework of the organisation’s policies and record such incidents as appropriate.
• Engage with service users with a person centred approach, exhibiting professional boundaries while ensuring the values and ethos of MQI are upheld
• Subject to training, take on the role of Designated Liaison Person with respect to child protection concerns
• Work in the Open Access Service as rostered Monday through Friday
• Carry out administrative procedures in accordance with organisation policies.
• To be involved in the preparation of reports, statistics and other information that may be required by the Service Coordinator and/or the Head of Day Services
• To work effectively as a member of the team
• To share responsibility for supporting volunteers
• To undertake projects as assigned by the Coordinator, Head of Services or other members of the Executive.
• Attend internal/external meetings and training as required by the Service Coordinator
• Have a flexible approach to the work in response to organisational change, development and review of best practice.
• To work as part of the team, taking responsibility for regular and consistent communication, actively participating in all team meetings and supporting the ethos of the Organisation
• Engage with other team members, support colleagues, participate in meetings as required, and be open to reasonable requests from the Service Coordinator/Head of Day Services in order to ensure effective working relationships.
• To provide supervision and training to volunteers and other personnel as required by the Service Coordinator and/or Head of Day Services.
• Work within the policies of MQI, both organisation wide and project specific in order to ensure that a consistent delivery of service and quality standards are adhered to in the project.
• Share responsibility to work cohesively where applicable with CE Participants and Volunteers for the delivery of this service and to act as a mentor to those who are working/volunteering in the service
• Reporting to the Service Coordinator for individual support, supervision, performance appraisal working within the parameters of the MQI, HR and H&S policies and procedures
• Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the clients with access to a full range of accommodation, treatment and support services via multi agency pathways and advocate where necessary
• To take responsibility for the day to day management of the Extended Day Service including developing and managing the rota and being the first point of contact for all issues internal and external. Escalate relevant issues, where appropriate, to the Service Coordinator/Head of Services
• Assist the Service Coordinator in the operation of the service to ensure it is runs smoothly and in accordance with organisational procedures
• Deputise for the Services Coordinator when required.
• To manage incidents and emergencies as they occur and bring them to satisfactory conclusion within the framework of MQI policies and to record details of such incidents as appropriate.
• To comply with the Service Coordinators requirements in relation to all appropriate paperwork (including the rota and payroll administration) and filing of data relevant to the service.
• Monitor and support staff and clients ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed and that links are being made with the appropriate internal and external services.
• To work on the floor supporting the team
• Undertake harm reduction interventions as required
• To assist in the recruitment, induction and retention of staff, volunteers and placements.
• To assist in the preparation of reports, statistics and other information that may be required by the Service Coordinator and the Head of the Service.
• To work effectively as a member of a team
• While on duty ensure that the health and safety standards are adhered to in accordance with the organisation’s policies and raise any H&S issues with the Service Coordinator and/or the Head of the Service.
• Attend internal/external meetings and training as required by the organisation

• Engage, where necessary, with the Community Engagement team, neighbours and external community

• Recording data and preparation of reports, statistics and other information that may be required by the Service Coordinator/Manager / Head of Day Services
• Reporting to the Service Coordinator for individual support, supervision, performance appraisal working within the parameters of the National Standards
• Reporting to the Service Coordinatorfor within the parameters of National Standards for Better Safer Healthcare, HR and H&S policies and procedures.
• To provide support to the Fundraising Team in relation to any events being held in Riverbank in connection with the service.
• To undertake ad-hoc duties as required by Service Coordinator/Manager/Head of Services
• Engage with other team members, support colleagues, participate in meetings as required, and be open to reasonable requests from the Service Coordinator/other Lead Workers in order to ensure effective working relationships.
• To partner with the HR Department with respect to all HR recruitment and disciplinary issues.
• Ensure compliance with organisation policies to ensure consistent delivery of services and maintenance of quality standards including:
o Fire
o Health and Safety
o Confidentiality
o Needs assessment, key working, care planning
o Boundaries
o National Standards for Better Safer Healthcare
o Inclusion Policy

• Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time, as within Open Access Services, there are number of services/client activities which result in a number of different daily roles within the service. You will be required to undertake the various daily roles that are assigned to you to meet our operational requirements.

Person Specification

• A minimum Level 7 Social Care qualification in a relevant social care field
• A minimum of two years’ full time (or part time equivalent) experience working as a Project Worker in a low threshold environment with at least one of these years being within supervisory management/lead level/managing staff
• Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills within MQI and externally with the local community.
• Required to demonstrate ability to work under pressure and in an environment where service users have multiple complex needs.
• Ability to work on own initiative
• An excellent understanding of issues relating to problem drug use/homelessness including mental health concerns
• Capacity to develop constructive relationships with service users & team.
• Capacity to develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Must be able to demonstrate proficient IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and a good knowledge of the CRM system for reporting purpose
• Skills & Experience in dealing with service performance evaluation, service development & change management desirable.

The working hours for this position will be between 7am and 9.30pm, 39 hours per week Monday to Sunday. There will be a requirement to cover on-call.

The salary for this position is €30,360 – €37,800 pa DOE. There is also a lead allowance of €4,000 pa
