How Tax Efficient Giving works
If your total gifts to MQI is €250 or more in a calendar year, you could be a tax efficient donor. We automatically send tax forms to donors who gave €250 or more. Alternatively, you can complete and electronically submit a form now, or call 01 524 0139 to speak with Elizabeth, and she will post a form out to you.
Your donations are eligible for additional tax support through your completed form if :
- you gave money or shares worth €250 or more in a given year to this charity (MQI) while resident in Ireland,
- you paid income tax during the year in question,
- or you are retired and have a pension, investment or assets that you pay income or capital gains tax on,
- or you are self-employed/ self assessed,
- or you are jointly assessed for tax with your tax paying spouse.

When you return the signed form to MQI, we forward the donation amount for the tax year(s) along with your PPS number to the Revenue commissioners. We store your tax form information securely only for the purpose of obtaining tax rebates. Revenue pays the tax relief to MQI when satisfied that you have paid at least the donation amount in income tax. MQI does not receive any information on individual taxpayers.
