Today, you can help someone who is struggling with their mental health
Barry was abused as a child. Then he lost his mother to suicide. After he became homeless, he lost his best friend, his brother. He started drinking to numb the pain. Barry was losing hope completely. He was becoming suicidal…
But if you met Barry, you would be forgiven for thinking nothing was wrong… On the outside, he was his usual calm self.
At MQI, our mental health team are trained to help people like Barry. They are the eyes that see the subtle signs of distress. The ears that hear the crack in a laugh, which says something is wrong. And it is their strong hands that catch someone like Barry and guide them to safety.
Ellie on the MQI mental health team could see something was wrong. She spoke with him, really listened, and helped to keep him safe in the moment. Barry shared his problems for the first time, and the dark thoughts slowly faded. And a glimmer of hope grew – lighting the path ahead.
Barry credits the mental health team at MQI with stepping in and saving his life.
“If nobody had said anything to me that day, then I would have been done.”
If you give today, you will be at the very heart of this lifesaving work – helping it continue with your love and your care.
Barry is now dealing with his grief, processing his emotions and moving forward. But there are many more precious lives to be saved. That’s why we need your support today.
Please will you give a gift to safeguard the mental health team and ensure help is always at hand – right when it is needed?
Your gift will be ringfenced to safeguard the mental health team for a full year. Any surplus (if there is any) will go to the everyday frontline services at MQI, which bring people back from the brink, week on week.
