Who can take part?
Everyone can take part in this challenge! It is open to anyone who is up for walking 10,000 steps a day in the month of June. Feel free to take part on your own, or with friends and family.
When can I start?
June 1st is the official start date for the 10k Steps Challenge. However, if you aren’t able to start right on the day, that’s no problem at all! The challenge is for the whole month of June, so it can be flexible to your schedule.
How do I fundraise?
Once you sign up for your free fundraising pack, we will send you a link to set up your JustGiving fundraising page. Here, you will set a fundraising goal, and you can then share the link to this page with friends and family. You can also use your own social media accounts to get the word out about your fundraiser.
How do I track my distance?
This one is up to you! There are many ways to track your distance traveled. You can use a free fitness app like Strava to track steps, as well as your smartphone or devices like a FitBit, Apple Watches, etc. You’ll also get a printed distance tracker in your free fundraising pack!
Where do the funds go?
The money you raise will help support the men and women struggling with homelessness and addiction in Ireland. For example, every €10 you raised can help provide hygiene packs, new underwear to restore dignity, a hot meal and crisis intervention for a person who has nowhere else to turn. You can learn more about our services here and also our governance here.
Can I collect funds outside of JustGiving?
If you collect any offline funds (cash, cheque, etc.) towards your challenge, you can send that on to Merchants Quay Ireland by post, learn more here.
Can I take part with my work colleagues?
Absolutely, it’s a great team bonding exercise! If you would like to know more about getting your workplace involved in this challenge, you can get in touch with Maggie.
