Recovery Month 2026: Beyond the Stigma

Recovery Month is an annual awareness month focused on challenging the stigma associated with addiction and celebrating recovery. During September, we celebrate the individuals who are on their own unique recovery journeys and raise awareness about how we can challenge the stigma associated with addiction.

At Merchants Quay Ireland (MQI) Recovery Month is one of the highlights of the year. It’s a chance to celebrate share stories of hope and run activities and events that promote wellbeing and connection.

Eddie Mullins 5k Recovery Runs

Following the success of last year’s initiative, MQI CEO Eddie Mullins is once again taking on a daily 5K challenge throughout September to raise awareness of recovery and the importance of accessible recovery services.

Last year, our CEO Eddie Mullins took part in a daily 5k running challenge to raise awareness about Recovery and MQI’s recovery services sharing weekly videos alongside high profile individuals.

This year, Eddie is taking on the challenge again by running with Michael Martin, Kenny Egan and many more.

We’ll be sharing updates, photos and videos across MQI’s social media channels throughout September so make sure to follow along and cheer Eddie on!

These events provide opportunities for people to connect with others, build confidence, learn new skills and celebrate the progress they have made on their recovery journey. We will be highlighting this activity through our Services Spotlight across our social media channels. Everyone has a role to play in Recovery Month and there are lots of ways to get involved.

If you’d like to support MQI’s addiction recovery services this September, we’d love to have you join us for the Road to Recovery challenge. We are asking people to walk, cycle, jog or run to raise vital funds and awareness for MQI’s addiction recovery services.

You can also support MQI this Recovery Month by donating to our appeal or spreading the word about our work.
