Governance
We can only help Ireland’s homeless and hungry, and those struggling with addiction and mental health issues, by the grace of your generosity. This is one of the many reasons why all of us at Merchants Quay Ireland are committed to the highest levels of good governance, transparency, and accountability.
Merchants Quay Ireland is registered with the Charities Regulatory Authority in Ireland, in compliance with the Charities Act 2009, and has voluntarily adopted the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) for accounting and reporting by charities. We are independently audited by leading audit and assurance practice, Deloitte.
In March 2017, Merchants Quay Ireland became fully compliant with the Good Governance Code: A Code of Practice for Good Governance of Community, Voluntary and Charitable Organisations in Ireland. This process involved a thorough review and assessment of the organisation’s policies, procedures, structures and values to ensure MQI is run as effectively as possible, with a focus on increasing transparency and accountability.
The Triple Lock Standard
MQI has now achieved what is known as “the triple lock” because we;
- publish comprehensive SORP compliant accounts,
- comply with the Good Governance Code,
- comply with the Charities Governance Code
- the Board has adopted the Guidelines for Charitable Organisation on Fundraising from the Public.
We welcome any queries you may have about our governance.
