With a general election approaching, people are being asked to choose their TDs – members of the Dáil, or Parliament- and these choices will determine who is in the next Government.
Over the next few weeks, candidates may knock on your door seeking your support, or they may engage with you online, at the train station, on the street or elsewhere.
When they do so, consider asking them about how they intend to help Merchants Quay Ireland and if they will support us in helping those in addiction and homelessness.
Four key questions for candidates:
- • Will you help ensure that the next Government gives organisations like Merchants Quay the financial support they need to help those in addiction and homelessness?
- • Will you provide more funding for MQI’s Jane’s Place facility, which helps women in homelessness and addiction?
- • Will you provide more funding for MQI’s residential recovery services including rehab and detox services, and after care services like the Dublin Drug-Free Programme?
- • Will you ensure that the language used by politicians and others to describe those in addiction and homelessness is always respectful, thus helping to reduce the stigma they face?
