MQI DATS (Drug & Alcohol Treatment Support)
Delivers a community-based drug and alcohol prevention and treatment support service to those over 18 and their families. This is service is provided across the four counties of the Midlands, Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Longford.
Drug & Alcohol Support Workers
Each county has a dedicated drug and alcohol worker that supports individuals experiencing problems due to drug and/ or alcohol misuse. Each drug and alcohol worker will provide a wide range of interventions delivered through evidence based best practice to include but not limited to:
- Out-reach based crisis support service
- Mobile harm reduction, need exchange programme
- Information, education and advocacy
- Assessment and referral to rehab & aftercare services
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team with the HSE Drug & Alcohol services within our counties
Family Support Specialist Services
The family support specialist offers non-judgemental support to concerned persons who have been impacted by familial or significant others drug or alcohol use. The family support specialist facilitates support groups in Tullamore and Portlaoise to allow for support through their peers who are in similar situation to themselves.
Community Employment Drug Rehabilitation Scheme
This programme is operated out of our service in Tanyard Tullamore. The programme offers:
- Opportunities for people in recovery from substance misuse to re-engage into active community and working life
- Individual learning plans
- Relapse prevention
- Support groups
- Life skills course
- Community employment scheme
- Support to access further education/employment
