“The streets are no place to heal.”
At MQI, more than half of the people who come to us for recovery are also homeless.
Without a safe place to sleep, recovery simply cannot last. Imagine doing weeks of difficult detox and therapy, only to be sent back to the very streets where addiction took hold. It defeats the purpose – and it breaks hearts. Recovery is hard enough for anyone. But for someone who’s homeless, it’s like trying to build a house during a hurricane.
Your gift keeps our detox, residential rehab, and aftercare services running – especially vital for people in recovery who don’t have a home. Residential beds and supported aftercare are the difference between progress and relapse when there’s nowhere safe to sleep.
Please make your gift by 9 October 2025 so we can safeguard a full year of recovery support.
Peter's Road to Recovery

Peter grew up with trauma and spent years surviving on the streets. At MQI, for the first time, he felt safe enough to be honest about what he’d been running from. In a calm, structured setting, he started to heal and rebuild relationships – one safe step at a time.
“This is the first time in my life I’ve ever felt safe… I can finally face what I’ve been running away from.”
– Peter, MQI Client.
Your generosity today means the next person like Peter won’t lose their chance because services can’t stay open.
Why your kindness matters
Recovery is hard enough – but it’s near‑impossible without a roof overhead. Many people who come to MQI for recovery are also experiencing homelessness. Residential beds and supported aftercare are essential so recovery doesn’t unravel the moment treatment ends.
What your gift safeguards
Detox (8–12 weeks) : St. Francis Farm
A medically supervised space to stabilise, clear substances safely, and rebuild strength with good food, fresh air, and exercise.
Residential rehab (approx. 3 months)
Trauma‑informed counselling, group work, mental health supports, routine, and dignity.
Aftercare with supported housing (up to 6 months)
A safe place to live, relapse prevention supports, and the skills needed to live drug-free for life – especially vital for those without a home to return to.

Your gift at work
- Keep recovery services open all year for people ready to heal.
- Fund the teams and tools that make recovery possible – clinical care, counselling, group work, and case management.
- Ensure aftercare with a safe place to live, so no one leaves treatment for homelessness.
- Provide dignity and routine that rebuild belonging and hope.
